The 917 is one of the most important cars in Porsche's long and rich history in motorsport. The 917 was the car that achieved Porsche's first overall win at the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1970. Driven to victory by Richard Attwood and Hans Herrmann. The 917 is not only known for its great motorsport history, but also it role as a movie icon. This is thanks to the Hollywood actor Steve McQueen in the 1971 film
Le Mans. Porsche's 917 became legendary in racing and an icon in cinema. A car of great performance and speed, the 917 could achieve speeds up to 240 mph. This is thanks to the 917's Type 912 Flat-12. An engine that would become one of Porsche's greatest. In the Can-Am series, the turbocharged version Porsche 917/30 made up to 1,100 bhp from the Type 912 engine. The Porsche 917 today is now highly sought after by collectors, for the reason of being one of the greatest racing cars Porsche has ever made.
