History of the Stradale
The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale is one of the greatest Italian motorcars of all time. The 33 Stradale is based upon the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Autodelta racing car. Hence the name "Stradale" Italian for road-going. The Stradale being the road version of the Tipo 33 racing car. The cars stunning design is thanks to the great automotive designer Franco Scaglione. He is most well known for the futuristic Alfa Romeo BAT (or Berlinetta Aerodinamica Tecnica) concept cars of the 1950's. The 33 was not only a car of the greatest of beauty, but also of great performance. Being powered by a V8 engine derived from the Tipo 33 racing car. From 1967 to 1969, only 18 of these bewildering Alfa's were ever produced and 5 were used for concept cars. It for this extreme rarity and the cars astonishing design that the 33 Stradale, is one of the most sought after Italian cars by many collectors.
